* Myra : In the shadow of the Church of Saint Nicolas, the ruins of Myra, its ancient city walls, and myriad rock tombs sit dramatically on a steep mountain slope.
* According to ancient sources, St. Nicolas, known the world over as Santa Claus, was born at the end of the 3rd century near the town of Patara ,(60 km west of Demre), to a wealthy family, was educated and devoted himself to the betterment of mankind.
* Kekova ("The Sunken City"): has a surface area of 5.7sq km and while the majority of its ruins are submerged underwater, they are still visible. Kekova was an ancient town destroyed by an earthquake during the 2nd century. Rebuilt during the Byzantine Empire period, it was finally abandoned because of Arab incursions. Tersane Bay (meaning "dockyard") was the site of the ancient city of Xera - which features ruins of a Byzantine church) is also on this island.
The Kekova region, which encompasses Kekova, the villages of Kaleköy and Üçagiz and the four ancient towns of Simena, Aperlae, Dolchiste and Teimioussa, was declared a protected area on January 18, 1990 by the government.
* Ucagiz is a village one kilometer from Kaleköy, north of a small bay by the same name. Ucagiz means "three mouths", referring to the three exits to open sea.
